Finn Bilous has finished in eighth place within a highly competitive field at the first slopestyle World Cup competition of 2019 in Font Romeu, France.

NZ freeskier Miguel Porteous has claimed the first World Cup medal of his career, claiming silver at the FIS Freeski Halfpipe World Cup at Copper Mountain in the USA.

NZ skiers are making their presence felt on the international stage with  Piera Hudson claiming bronze in Slalom at the Far East Cup in China, and Beau-James Wells, Nico Porteous and Miguel Porteous qualifying first, second and third at the Freeski Halfpipe World Cup  in the USA.

It has been a busy weekend of competition for New Zealand’s top skiers and snowboarders, with athletes competing at three World Cups in Austria, China and the USA.

Jumps and rails were the focus on day four of the 2018 Snow Sports NZ Junior Freestyle Nationals at Cardrona Alpine Resort today with the Smith Ski and Snowboard Slopestyle competition.

New Zealand’s Finn Bilous earned his first World Cup medal, finishing in third place in front of an enthusiastic home crowd at the Winter Games NZ Big Air.

The FIS Junior Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Halfpipe World Championships Qualifying competition came down to a game of strategy. 

Competition moved to the halfpipe at Cardrona Alpine Resort today for the final event in The Spy Optics FIS NZ Freestyle Open.  Heavy snowfall meant that the competition had to be modified to a straight two run final.

The Spy Optics FIS NZ Freestyle Open got underway at Cardrona Alpine Resort today with the snowboard and freeski slopestyle qualifiers. With snow starting to fall heavily and visibility deteriorating, only the women’s field was able to complete their two runs.

Freeski Big Air will be one of seven new disciplines added to the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games programme. The 2018 Audi quattro Winter Games NZ will be the first event to host a FIS Freeski Big Air World Cup as an Olympic discipline.

The final athletes have been announced today to the New Zealand team to the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games bringing the team size to 21, New Zealand’s largest ever.

Jackson and Beau-James Wells have been selected to represent New Zealand at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

The New Zealand Olympic Committee together with Snow Sports NZ regret to announce that freeski slopestyle athlete Jossi Wells has withdrawn from the New Zealand Olympic Winter Games team.

Miguel Porteous has demonstrated that he is in a good place on his build to the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games in February with a solid performance in the men's Freeski Superpipe Dew Tour finals and a sixth place finish.
