Cardrona NZ Park & Pipe team members have been in action at the snowboard and freeski slopestyle World Cup in Seiser Alm, Italy this weekend.  Finn Bilous and Jackson Wells made it through to the top 16 freeski final with Finn finishing sixth and Jackson 13th. Snowboarder Tiarn Collins did not progress past semi-finals rounds and finished 12th overall.

17-year-old freeskier Miguel Porteous has gone from X Games rookie to silver medallist in one night, taking out second place in men’s superpipe in Aspen.

The Cardrona NZ Park and Pipe team has chalked up another successful round of World Cup qualifying results with the freeskiers in action on the Slopestyle course at the Italian resort of Seiser Alm on Thursday. Jackson Wells finished fourth in his heat, earning him the direct route to finals, while fifth-place finisher Finn Bilous will move through to semi-finals. 

New Zealand ski cross racer Jamie Prebble has raced to first place in the Europa Cup in Lenk, Switzerland.

The next generation of New Zealand freeride athletes is making its mark on the world stage, with a Kiwi landing on the podium at a Junior Freeride Tour competition for the second weekend in a row. Finn Duffy placed second in men’s snowboard at the three-star competition held in the French resort of Les Arcs on Sunday.

The Freeride Junior Tour is off to a good start for NZ skier Hugo Cameron  who finished in second place at the first event of the season held in Verbier, Switzerland over the weekend.

NZ Ski Cross racer Jamie Prebble has made an encouraging start to the new year, finishing in 12th place at the Audi Ski Cross World Cup competitions in Watles, Italy.

For the second day in a row the weather was the major player at the first slopestyle World Cup of the season in Font Romeu. With no more possibilities to run the show, the qualifications results were taken to stand as the final rankings. NZ's Jossi Wells therefore finished in 10th place.

Freeski and snowboard athletes were treated to clear, calm conditions for the final day of competition at the 2016 Cardrona Games today. 80 athletes, including home-grown Kiwi talent as well as a strong international contingent, threw down their best tricks in the 22ft high Olympic halfpipe at Cardrona Alpine Resort near Wanaka.

On day two of Cardrona Games slopestyle, NZ rider Zoi Sadowski Synnott (Wanaka) and Canadian rider Sebastien Toutant were the respective winners of the snowboard competition. Mirroring yesterday’s results, Kelly Sildaru (EST) and James Woods (GB) once again took home top honours in freeski.

The UK’s James Woods just edged out New Zealand athlete Finn Bilous for the win in men’s freeski while Estonian athlete Kelly Sildaru was the convincing winner in women’s freeski.

Cardrona Alpine Resort, home to the New Zealand Park and Pipe Team, will be hosting a not-to-be-missed spectacle this spring, with the Cardrona Games taking place at the resort from 12 – 16 September.
