Kiwi Alpine Ski Racing superstar Alice Robinson has impressively skied from bib 40 into 21st place overnight at the FIS World Cup Super G held in Val D’Isère, France.

Nico Porteous, Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, Beau-James Wells and Jossi Wells have all received invitations to compete in the prestigious X Games Aspen 2021.

New Zealand has been chosen to set the course for a World Cup Giant Slalom Alpine Ski Race for the first time due to Alice Robinson’s outstanding results over the past year.

Top New Zealand freeskier Byron Wells has announced his retirement from the NZ National Freeski Team and competitive freeskiing.

 

The Freeski World Cup Circuit kicked off overnight with the FIS Freeski Slopestyle World Cup in Stubai, Austria. NZ athletes Ben Barclay and Luca Harrington were both in the start gate after a nine month hiatus from World Cup competition.

 

Adam Hall (Para Alpine Ski Racing) and Alice Robinson (Alpine Ski Racing) have been named as finalists for the 2021 ISPS Handa Halberg Awards Decade Champions in their respective categories. 

 

Alice Robinson wins the Snow Sports NZ Overall Athlete at the 2020 Snow Sports NZ Annual Awards night held in Wanaka on the 10th of October.

The final day of the Cardrona Snow Sports NZ Freestyle Junior Nationals went down on the Salomon Slopestyle courses today at Cardrona.

After a day of postponement due to weather yesterday, day two of the Cardrona Snowsports NZ Freestyle Junior Nationals took place under sunny skies with cool conditions.

The opening day of the Cardrona Snow Sports NZ Freestyle Nationals 2020 saw over 100 ski competitors going head to head down the Gravity Cross course at Cardrona.

The 2020 Snowvision NZ Alpine Youth Champions were crowned yesterday (Saturday 26 September) after an action packed day of both Slalom and Giant Slalom racing at Cardrona Alpine Resort.

We are pleased and excited to announce the nominees for the 2020 Snow Sports NZ Annual Awards, presented by Augusta.

Zoi Sadowski Synnott, Tiarn Collins, Ben Barclay and Ella Miles landed on top of their respective overall podiums at the Torpedo 7 NZ Showdown. 

Eliza Grigg and Jack Adams were crowned the Alpine National Combined Disciplines Overall Champions at Coronet Peak today.

Willis Feasey, Adam Hall and Corey Peters were crowned National Giant Slalom Champions today in their respective categories, following their Super G wins from yesterday.

Day One of the National Alpine Championships,  National Para Alpine Championships and the National Alpine Junior Championships were held under blue skies with warm temperatures at Coronet Peak.

Team Wells was crowned victorious at the Obsidian 2020 on Friday 28 August after a tight race which came down to the wire. After five challenges Team Wells snatched the win by only 20 points ahead of their rivals Team Kuzma and Team Smoothy, who were tied on 500 points each on the overall leaderboard.

Cardrona Alpine Resort was the host for the final sports challenge at the Obsidian 2020, the Park Jam. The athletes threw down some amazing tricks to wow the spectators on a bluebird day. Team Kuzma came out on top for the event (100pts) followed by Team Smoothy (80pts) and Team Wells (60pts).

Team Smoothy shone in the Obsidian Freeride competition on the WTF face in the Minaret Range near Lake Wanaka, jumping from third place overall on the leaderboard into first, with a clever play of their Joker card.
