Freeski and snowboard athletes were treated to clear, calm conditions for the final day of competition at the 2016 Cardrona Games today. 80 athletes, including home-grown Kiwi talent as well as a strong international contingent, threw down their best tricks in the 22ft high Olympic halfpipe at Cardrona Alpine Resort near Wanaka.

On day two of Cardrona Games slopestyle, NZ rider Zoi Sadowski Synnott (Wanaka) and Canadian rider Sebastien Toutant were the respective winners of the snowboard competition. Mirroring yesterday’s results, Kelly Sildaru (EST) and James Woods (GB) once again took home top honours in freeski.

The UK’s James Woods just edged out New Zealand athlete Finn Bilous for the win in men’s freeski while Estonian athlete Kelly Sildaru was the convincing winner in women’s freeski.

Cardrona Alpine Resort, home to the New Zealand Park and Pipe Team, will be hosting a not-to-be-missed spectacle this spring, with the Cardrona Games taking place at the resort from 12 – 16 September.
