The NZJFT has had a hugely successful second year with three competitions held in a typically kiwi variety of snow and weather conditions.

The NZ Youth Series finals were held at Cardrona Alpine Resort over three days from Friday 23 - Sunday 25 September and comprised a Super-G, Giant Slalom and Slalom.

Freeski and snowboard athletes were treated to clear, calm conditions for the final day of competition at the 2016 Cardrona Games today. 80 athletes, including home-grown Kiwi talent as well as a strong international contingent, threw down their best tricks in the 22ft high Olympic halfpipe at Cardrona Alpine Resort near Wanaka.

On day two of Cardrona Games slopestyle, NZ rider Zoi Sadowski Synnott (Wanaka) and Canadian rider Sebastien Toutant were the respective winners of the snowboard competition. Mirroring yesterday’s results, Kelly Sildaru (EST) and James Woods (GB) once again took home top honours in freeski.

The UK’s James Woods just edged out New Zealand athlete Finn Bilous for the win in men’s freeski while Estonian athlete Kelly Sildaru was the convincing winner in women’s freeski.

NZ Masters racers from all over NZ gathered at Cardrona Alpine Resort last week for four superb days of training followed by two days of racing.

It was a busy day of ski racing at Mt Hutt ski field yesterday (Tuesday) with The New Zealand Alpine National Super-G Championships running alongside two Australia New Zealand Cup (ANC) Super-G races.
