National Park & Pipe Series

The New Zealand Park and Pipe Series is a national competitive pathway for freeski and snowboard athletes, bringing together sanctioned Park and Pipe events from across the country. It provides a clear progression from grassroots participation through to higher‑level competition, allowing athletes to earn points toward a national ranking. The series is designed to support long‑term athlete development from grassroots snowsports through to pre high performance while promoting enjoyment with in the sport.

One National Leaderboard

Bringing together events across Aotearoa, Athletes can earn points at every sanctioned Park and Pipe event they enter, based on their finishing position and the tier of the event. Points accumulate across the season with the top 3 results used to the national leaderboard for Under 14 and Under 16.

Event tiers determine the points available. The National level event awards 1000 points for a win, Regional level events award 800 points for a win, and Grassroots events award 700 points for a win. The strength and size of the field help determine which tier an event qualifies for.

Who Can Compete

The series is open to freeski and snowboard athletes from all regions in New Zealand. The season‑long leaderboard includes the Under 14 and Under 16 divisions. While organisers are encouraged to offer additional age groups such as Under 8, Under 10, Under 12 etc. These extra divisions are recognised at each event with podiums, but they do not contribute to the national season long leaderboard.

National titles for Under 12, Under 10 and Under 8 continue to be awarded at the Cardrona Nationals which is part of the overall series.

What Events are Part of the Series

The Park and Pipe Series includes sanctioned park and pipe events from multiple mountains and regions across New Zealand. Events may include Slopestyle, Big Air, Halfpipe, Rail events, Quarterpipe and cyber events. The calendar can change each season, and the long‑term aim is for all major New Zealand park and pipe events to be included in the national pathway.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to attend every event?

No. You can enter as many or as few events as you choose. Points from each athletes top 3 results are added to your season total, If you have less that 3 results these will still count towards your overall ranking.

Do younger athletes still earn national titles?

Yes. Under 12, Under 10 and Under 8 national titles are awarded at the Cardrona Nationals.

Do I Need to be a Snow Sports New Zealand Member?

Yes. All entries for any SSNZ sanctioned events need to be members.

When do the National titles get awarded?
