For the first time, Snow Sports NZ will recognise and award Life Memberships at its annual awards night.
As the highest honour SSNZ can bestow, this is your opportunity to consider and nominate those individuals who have had a significant and longstanding impact on the sport in New Zealand.
Nominations are open from 21 August to 9 September, 2026. Any SSNZ member can nominate an individual with Life Memberships to be awarded at the Snow Sports NZ annual awards night on Friday October 9, 2026.
Typically, Life Members will have 15+ years of sustained contribution, significant national impact, and exhibit leadership across multiple roles within snow sports. You can read more about the criteria and see the conditions of nomination here.
So get your nomination in by 5pm 9 September, 2026. You can nominate without informing the individual in question. We will contact you if your nomination is successful and decide how best to award the honour on the night.
To find out who our first Life Members are, join us at our awards night at the Lake Wānaka Centre.
The Snow Sports NZ Board will decide Life Members by considering nominations against five categories:
Quality and Impact of Contribution
Breadth of Contribution
Duration and Consistency of Service
Leadership and Influence
Values, Conduct and Role Modelling
Typically, Life Members will have 15+ years of sustained contribution, significant national impact, and exhibit leadership across multiple roles within snow sports.
The Board may also recommend Life Membership where there are exceptional circumstances that warrant recognition, provided it is satisfied the nominee's overall contribution is consistent with the prestige and intent of the award.
