New Zealand freeskiers Finn Bilous and Margaux Hackett (both Wanaka) have finished in 7th and 8th place respectively at the FIS Freeski Slopestyle World Cup held in Silvaplana, Switzerland overnight (NZT). This is the final Freeski Slopestyle World Cup of the season.
Bilous, who finished in 7th place in the heavily stacked men’s Freeski finals explained “After a delayed start this morning, I was happy to be able to put my first run down clean and get a score of 87.75. I knew I could up this score if I was to change my second jump from a Switch Right Double Cork 1260 to a Switch Right Triple Rodeo 1260. I went for the switch Triple but unfortunately slipped off the grab which made me land backseat. With the level of riding going down today, I knew this mistake wouldn’t be enough. I’ve got some things to work on over the NZ winter and I’m already amped for the next contest we have.”
Hackett finished in 8th place in the women’s Freeski finals, achieving her career best FIS World Cup Slopestyle result.
“I am stoked to be in Switzerland and to make finals after a crazy season. Would have loved to put down a clean run but super happy to be here and to be able to compete this year!”
The Snowboard Slopestyle World Cup is up next with Tiarn Collins and Cool Wakushima (both Queenstown) competing in qualifications tonight NZT.
