Alice Robinson Tops U19 GS at Copper Mountain

Colorado, USA (3 December 2017) - 16-year-old Queenstown ski racer Alice Robinson has finished second in Giant Slalom, first in the U19 division, at an International Ski Federation (FIS) race at Copper Mountain resort in the USA.

"I'm really stoked with the result as I've had some amazing training and made some great progress in my skiing and I'm glad I could finally put it together in the race," said Alice. "It was a long, difficult track but I thought I dealt with it well. My goal coming in to the race was just being able to ski well and if it ended in a good result then that was a bonus."

Alice will now travel to Canada to compete in North America Cup races at Panorama resort from 9-16 December.

NZ men's ski team members Adam Barwood and Willis Feasey competed at the World Cup Giant Slalom in Beaver Creek, USA on 3 December. While they didn't quite hit the target of a top-30, there were plenty of positives to take away from the race.

"I was pretty happy with how I skied," said Willis. "I made some mistakes before key parts of the course which unfortunately slowed me down and meant I wasn’t in the top 30, which was my goal coming into this race. The piste was amazing, it was a good course set.  On the whole it’s a positive experience. I’m looking forward to Val d’Isere this weekend."
