Poland Remain on the Podium After Second Day of Racing at Snow Farm NZ

Lake Wanaka, New Zealand (11 August 2013) – The second day of FIS racing at Snow Farm NZ saw a strong field of international athletes battling it out under blue skies in the 5km and 10km freestyle event, the second of three Continental Cup races taking place at Snow Farm this week.

A strong field of eighteen men saw Olympic medallist Alexey Petukho of Russia take on yesterday’s winners Maciej Kreczmer and Brian McKeever, while a lighter weighted women’s field of ten skiers battled to keep pace with world number one Justyna Kowalczyk and Olympic Biathlon gold medallist Anastazia Kuzimin.  

Maciej Kreczmer of Poland stole the limelight again, taking out first place in 21:48:02. Brian McKeever of Canada placed second in 22:06:30 with Alexey Petukhov taking out third place in 22:11:20.

There were no surprises in the women’s category with Justyna Kowalczyk of Poland taking out the top spot in 11:33:23, claiming her second win of this race series. Anastazia Kuzmina of Slovakia took out second place in 12:10:23 with Michiko Kashiwabara of Japan finishing just behind in a time of 12:10:84.

The FIS ANC Cup racing continues Thursday 15th August with the Audi quattro Winter Games Sprint event kicking off at 09:00am.
