New Zealand para alpine ski champion Adam Hall (Wānaka) has continued his build towards the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games with a second place podium finish in Standing Slalom in Switzerland.
Having achieved two third place finishes in the World Cup at Feldberg in January, he went one better in Veysonnaz, also taking third place overall in slalom for the season.
Adam is a five-time Paralympic medallist - he has won two Paralympic gold medals and three Paralympic bronze medals. He was also named Para Athlete of the Year at the 2019 Halberg Awards.
Hall said he was happy with his performance and felt momentum was heading in the right direction for the upcoming Paralympic Games starting March 6.
‘I had a few days leading into this race to fine tune and get on top of some equipment issues which really helped. In Feldberg, despite the podium finishes, I wasn’t super happy with how I was skiing whereas today I felt I put down some really solid runs.
“Finishing with the silver and third overall in the season has been a big confidence booster heading into Milano Cortina. I’m looking forward to the final push and in the meantime it’s cool to draw inspiration from watching our fellow competitors do so well in Milano, and from Corey’s result yesterday.”
Coach Daniel Bogue said it was a great event for the whole team.
“Adam skied really well. It was great to see him put it down in the first run, and back it up with a successful second run. Overall a really successful world cup in Switzerland. The team are really happy with how it went.”
