Hamish McDougall

Hamish is a freeski coach with the High Performance team. He spent several years as a high performance Slopestyle athlete before transitioning in to a coaching role.

Hamish has called Wanaka home since 2000 but his first experiences on snow were at the Temple Basin club field at the age of two when his family of six would cram in to a camper van and drive there from Wellington.

After just missing out on qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Hamish began transitioning into coaching, working at Cardrona in the High Performance Centre and privately for a number of years. He joined Snow Sports NZ in 2016 as a ski technician and played a joint role as coach and ski tech at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. He took up a full time coaching role in 2018 primarily working with Slopestyle and Big Air athletes.

During his years as a competitive athlete Hamish also completed a double degree in Law and  Finance.
