There are four vacancies on the Board of Snow Sports NZ as a result of the terms of office expiring for Hetty Van Hale, Des Brennan and Tony Hannon plus the vacancy resulting from the resignation of James Hadley; two of these vacancies are for Elected Board Member positions, two are for Appointed Board Member positions.
A skills matrix has been completed by the current Board. This matrix highlights the desirability of building the board’s overall skills profile in a number of areas. Along with this the Board has considered age and gender diversity.
The most important skill being sought is knowledge, understanding and experience of high performance sport and what it takes to win on the world stage. While snow sports experience would be ideal, demonstrable experience in any successful HP sporting code would bring value to the Board. The two other priority skills are sponsorship / fundraising and digital marketing.
The Board feels it has adequate broad governance experience and that the above expertise is of greater value to the organisation. The Board believes it would benefit from the addition of a younger Board member(s) and the Board values gender diversity.
