New Zealand’s young freeride athletes continue to perform well against strong international fields with snowboarder Finn Duffy  claiming third place at the Eldorado Junior Freeride three-star competition in Andorra over the weekend.

Zoi Sadowski Synnott is proving herself a force to be reckoned with in her first season on the FIS World Cup Tour, today earning a bronze medal in Big Air in Quebec, Canada.

The Cardrona NZ Park and Pipe Team has travelled to Quebec, Canada to compete in slopestyle and big air World Cups from February 9 to 12, 2017. Competition got off to a good start today with Tiarn Collins and Zoi Sadowski Synnott qualifying for finals in the Snowboard Big Air and Jossi Wells through in the Freeski Slopestyle.

 Wanaka skier Sam Lee has ticked off his goal of a top 10 result at his first ever Freeride World Tour competition, finishing eighth in last night’s (NZT) event staged in the Andorran resort of Vallnord-Arcalis.

Today, February 9th 2017, marks 'one year to go’ until New Zealand’s top snow and ice sport athletes compete at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Three New Zealand athletes were amongst sixty of the best young riders from around the world who were invited to compete on the technical slopes of the Andorran ski resort of Grandvalira for the most prestigious event in junior freeride: The Freeride Junior World Championships. 

The first of back-to-back Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup races scheduled to take place in Feldberg (GER) this weekend was cut short on Saturday after noon due to a winter storm that blue into the area during the competition.

NZ snowboardcross racer Duncan Campbell finished 22nd in the 2016-17 season's third snowboard cross World Cup race which was staged in Bansko (BUL) today.

The Freeride World Qualifier 4-star event held in Les Arcs, France on 3 February had a distinctly Kiwi flavour with three New Zealand athletes making the podium. Sam Lee placed second in men’s ski, Maria Kuzma second in women’s snowboard and Roland Morley Brown second in men’s snowboard.

New Zealand snowboarders were on impressive form in the qualifying rounds of the Snowboard Slopestyle World Cup staged at Mammoth Mountain in the USA today. Zoi Sadowski Synnott and Tiarn Collins both qualified for finals.

The Para Alpine Skiing World Championships have finished on a high for the New Zealand team with Adam Hall earning a bronze medal in Slalom on the final day of racing in the Italian resort of Tarvisio. The result brings the medal tally to three with Corey Peters earning silver medals in the Downhill and Super-G last week.

New Zealander freeskier Craig Murray has claimed victory at a Freeride World Qualifier 4-star competition held in the Austrian resort of Hochfugen. Anna Smoothy finished fourth in the women’s freeski division.

 

Cardrona NZ Park & Pipe team members have been in action at the snowboard and freeski slopestyle World Cup in Seiser Alm, Italy this weekend.  Finn Bilous and Jackson Wells made it through to the top 16 freeski final with Finn finishing sixth and Jackson 13th. Snowboarder Tiarn Collins did not progress past semi-finals rounds and finished 12th overall.

17-year-old freeskier Miguel Porteous has gone from X Games rookie to silver medallist in one night, taking out second place in men’s superpipe in Aspen.

The Cardrona NZ Park and Pipe team has chalked up another successful round of World Cup qualifying results with the freeskiers in action on the Slopestyle course at the Italian resort of Seiser Alm on Thursday. Jackson Wells finished fourth in his heat, earning him the direct route to finals, while fifth-place finisher Finn Bilous will move through to semi-finals. 

NZ Para alpine skier Corey Peters has finished in the medals at the World Championships in Italy for the second time in two days. Peters earned the silver medal in Super-G, to match his silver medal in Downhill on Wednesday.
