Hank Bilous

Hank's easy to spot on the mountain. He's the one in the Hawaiian shirt hucking everything in sight. He may also accessorise with a fish hat or a pair of jandals strapped to his backpack.  Hank's style of skiing is as unique as his fashion sense - he does nothing by halves. His fearless approach has earned him solid results and in 2015 a wildcard to compete on the Junior Freeride World Tour in Europe. Hank has been named to the 2017 NZ Freeride Team.

Hank earned podium spots at major events during the 2014 New Zealand season. He took out first place at the K2 Big Mountain Chill Series at Craigieburn in August and followed up with second place at The North Face Freeski Open of New Zealand Big Mountain in September. His huge rock drop on his finals run at The Remarkables will be remembered for years to come and was impressive enough for the rock feature to be renamed in his honour – Hank Time! These results were enough to earn Hank a wildcard entry wildcard to compete on the 2015 Junior Freeride World Tour in Europe where his best result was fourth place at the Fieberbrunn Kitzbuehler in Austria.

After finishing school Hank spent the 2016 northern hemisphsre season season based in Chamonix, France and competing on the Freeride World Qualifier Tour. He placed second at the Verbier Freeride Week 2* event and sixth at the Nendaz Freeride 4* event.

Hank has also participated and competed in a variety of other sports at both a national and international level. In kayaking he was part of the team which came second at the NZ Freestyle Champs, and has twice been selected to the NZ Junior Freestyle Kayak Team to compete at the World Champs. Hank is a keen participant in other local sporting events and groups such as the Contact Epic Mtn Bike Race, South Island Secondary Schools Adventure Race, Deans Bank 10 Hr Mtn Bike and is the Central Otago Whitewater Youth Rep.
