Alex learned to ski at the age of three, on family trips to Mt Ruapehu. The family moved to Queenstown when Alex was eight and there she began ski racing with Queenstown Alpine Ski Team at Coronet Peak. Once she reached FIS level, Alex began training with the Coberger Academy. In recent years she has spent Northern Hemisphere winters training at Sugar Bowl Academy in California, USA. Alex is a member of the Snow Sports NZ Development Squad.

Alex Hull was named to the NZ Development Squad in June 2019 having improved her ranking from 1214 to 546 in Giant Slalom. The season started well for the QAST athlete when she scored a 42.17 result on home snow at the Coronet Cup, and her strong form continued into the northern hemisphere season with a 33.78 result at Bridger Bowl.
Alex is currently studying physiotherapy at Auckland University of Technology.
