Freeskiing NZ Teams

The overall aim for the Freeskiing NZ Teams is to acknowledge, support and help develop those skiers who have reached or are nearing an international level in their respective gender/age in any one of the competitive freeski disciplines.

Team selection is multi-level with consideration to the achievements and commitments by skiers working towards their own individual goals.

Selection occurs twice a year; a full selection at the end of the New Zealand season (Oct/Nov) requires all skiers to resubmit for the team, and a selection review at the end of the Northern Hemisphere season (May) provides an additional opportunity for new members to apply for the team but does not require current team members to resubmit.

The Freeskiing NZ Teams Include:

• Legends (Hall of Fame) – Named for significant and distinguished service to the sport of freeskiing in New Zealand.

• National Team – The country’s elite skiers at an international level.

• Development Squad – Represents skiers coming through with expectations to make the National Team.

• Youth Squad – Skiers under 17 years of age showing talent and dedication to training and competing in all disciplines of skiing.
