Ben Griffin Takes Third in Men’s Slalom

Lake Wanaka, New Zealand (29 July 2010)–Lucie Tait-Jamieson (Auckland), Alexandra McGlinn (Christchurch) and Taylor Rapley (Queenstown) had a great start to their southern hemisphere racing season yesterday, placing first (1’24.81), second (1’25.27) and third (1’25.53) respectively in the women’s FIS slalom races at Cardrona Alpine Resort.

“Lucie Tait-Jamieson has worked hard,” said Alpine Manager, James Lazor.  “It was nice to see her top the podium.”

“This has set the standard for what we should see all season.  There should be some great competition amongst the kiwi women.”

New Zealand’s top men’s Alpine Ski Racer, Ben Griffin (Ohakune) placed third with a time of 1’23.45, a great result for him given that he specializes in Giant Slalom and Super G. He will decrease his FIS points in slalom as a result of his performance.

Adam Barwood (Queenstown) also put in a good performance, placing fifth with a time of 1’24.43.

The top two placing men were Xavier Salarich (SPA) with a time of 1’23.32 and Min-heuk Kang (KOR) with a time of 1’23.34.

The Wanaka Tech FIS Series continues through Saturday.
