Exstreamtv Street Style Snow Show Aug 7th 2010, Lake Hawea - Be there to watch the world’s leading snow athletes rip it up, and then rock into the Afterburner party

Lake Wanaka, NZ – The partnership between World Heli Challenge and exstreamtv has been years in the making, dating back to 2006 when the founder of exstreamtv, Steve Brebner was in discussion with a leading Australasian media group about launching an exstream channel and approached Tony Harrington (Harro), founder of the World Heli Challenge to be a content provider.

The two immediately hit it off and worked well together. Brebner’s sales and marketing background combined with Harro’s creativity and connections in the world of extreme sports led to a great partnership.

Exstreamtv was launched just after the successful resurrection of the World Heli Challenge in 2009 and all the video content from the event was pumped up to the channel including the two half hour episodes.  You can see this “mind blowing” footage by logging on to: www.exstreamtv.co.nz and scrolling down to the snowboarding and skiing footage.

The result for World Heli Challenge 2009 was stunning with perfect conditions the event was a major success.  The logical next step was the revival of the iconic Big Air, which in its day saw over 8,000 spectators.

“The Big Air event brings the excitement and buzz surrounding the World Heli Challenge back to the community and at the same time creates a legacy for that community,” said Harro.

Throughout the relaunch of the World Heli Challenge, Brebner has worked hard alongside Harro to make the event a success.  When the two discussed bringing back the Big Air, Steve immediately jumped at the opportunity to take naming rights in support of an event that he believes will once again be unrivaled.  Thus was born the Exstreamtv Street Style Snow Show.

“Exstreamtv is stoked to be a part of this,” said Brebner.

“The Exstreamtv Street Style Snow Show is a perfect synergistic partnership…utilising the creativity of Harro’s team and the superb streaming technology available on exstreamtv.  All the content will be available on the channel within hours after the events.”

“The resurrection in 2010 will be proof of concept so that a HUGE event can be rolled out in 2011 to coincide with Winter Games and as a prelude to the Rugby World Cup 2011.”

“The worlds media will be focussing on NZ and I can’t think of a better way to show off the adventure capital of the world.”

All World Heli Challenge content will be available free to anyone with an internet connection….watch what you want when you want on exstreamtv.

TelstraClear broadband customers can enjoy exstreamtv totally unmetered, no broadband cap applies. Viewers can watch as much as they want anytime.

ABOUT EXSTREAMTV
Exstreamtv's positioning mantra and mission is to provide sports that can’t get a leg in to old television networks a REAL chance to show their sports to the folks who love them. Also to provide sponsors of the sports a chance to leverage their investments and raise the overall profile.

Exstreamtv launched in Sept 2009 and now consistently rates in the top four channels on the Ziln network.

The exstreamTV audience is unique in that the core viewers are trans-generational. The channel captures the hard to attract baby boomer males who consume media erratically through to hard core (and very new media savvy) X and Y generation adrenaline junkies who are tiring of the big four sports that occupy many television schedules.

Live event streaming is a growing business opportunity and one that exstreamtv has made with ‘second-tier’ sports such as motocross, BMX, surfing and snow sports – both with national and regional sporting bodies and sports event organisers.

ABOUT WORLD HELI CHALLENGE
The famous World Heli Challenge was resurrected in 2009 and returns this year from 30 July to 8 August, this time bringing back the legendary "big air" event that in its time drew some of the largest spectator crowds of any snow event in the Southern Hemisphere.

Fifty of the world's top skiers and snowboarders will converge on Wanaka for eight days, including two days of helicopter-accessed competition with a goal of finding out which athlete is the best "all rounder" by combining their freeride and free style skills to showcase their overall talent.

ABOUT THE EXSTREAMTV STREET STYLE SNOW SHOW
The Exstreamtv Street Style Snow Show promises to be as much fun for spectators as it will be for the competitors.

The event takes place at the Hawea Hotel from 6pm to 9pm on Saturday, 7 August. Truckloads of snow and a big ramp will ensure that participants get plenty of air and, unlike back in the day, modern technology allows a soft landing for all, thanks to a giant 10mx15m cushion, "The NZ AirBag."

This family event will feature great music and plenty to eat and drink. All proceeds from the event will be donated to residents of Hawea in the form of added funding for the expansion of the Hawea Community Center.

The equally legendary "After Burner Party" will follow the Exstreamtv Street Style Snow Show and will continue into the wee hours of the morning.
